Tailored investment solutions

Who we are

Quartet is a boutique multi-asset investment manager based in London.

Established in 2009 by a group of experienced and like-minded investment professionals, we have
always taken pride in offering a completely bespoke investment management service.

We remain an independently owned partnership. One where clients always deal directly with the
owners and investment decisions are completely impartial.

What we do

We provide discretionary investment management services for private investors, trusts and pension schemes in the UK and globally.

Whether we’re working with an individual, family or intermediary, our aim is the same. To develop
successful long-term relationships that deliver the best possible results.

One thing we never do at Quartet is shoehorn anyone into predetermined solutions. By treating
everyone as the unique person they are, we create bespoke portfolios to match different financial
goals.

As an independent investment manager, we have no affiliation to any providers, so we can
confidently say we always put clients’ interests first and maintain complete objectivity.

Why invest with us

Bespoke solutions

Independent

Boutique approach

Proven philosophy

Bespoke service

We know that one size doesn’t fit all. All of our clients are individuals and so too are their financial
goals. We take the time to get to know each one of our clients, their circumstances and ambitions.
This allows us to really understand their financial needs before tailoring investment solutions to suit
them. Portfolios are also regularly assessed to ensure we continue to meet expectations.

Independence is key

Being independent is at the core of our culture. We are owned by our partners and have no in-house
products nor affiliations to any providers.

Boutique firm

We are all highly experienced portfolio managers who are passionate about building
long-term relationships and securing the best possible financial outcomes for our clients, and as we
and our families are among some of our biggest clients, we have an added incentive to perform. As a boutique investment manager, our clients always deal directly with the person who is investing
their money.

Our investment ethos

The management of a portfolio’s asset allocation is central to our investment philosophy. We
believe, and studies have shown, asset allocation is a key driver of performance. We consider each
client’s objectives and requirements before determining the optimal strategic asset allocation and
then adjust it on a tactical basis to reflect the risks and opportunities available.

Diversification is the only free lunch in finance, Nobel Prize-winning economist Harry Markowitz
famously said, and we agree. Investing in a truly diversified portfolio of assets makes it possible to
achieve better risk-adjusted returns.

The investment process

Our process

Our investment process is split into three parts: strategic asset allocation, tactical asset allocation and finally, investment selection.

Strategic asset allocation

We derive a strategic asset allocation for each client having discussed long-term objectives and how much risk you are willing to assume. This is the longer term ideal position of the portfolio.

Tactical asset allocation

Our Asset Allocation Committee meets regularly to discuss its macro-economic views and the expectations for the future performance of asset classes. Based on these views, portfolios are adjusted tactically to try and maximise risk adjusted returns.

Investment selection

Once the asset allocation has been agreed, we then decide on investment selection. The universe of opportunities is vast but can be simplified into the three main areas:

Passive Investments

Actively Managed Funds

Special Situations

We invest across multiple asset classes including traditional investments such as equities, bonds and cash as well as alternative investments like hedge funds, commodities and structured products.
